How it works

How to Transfer Your Domain Name to EX2

Transferring a domain name to EX2 is simple and happens with no interruption to your website or your email. Here are the four steps to follow:

  1. 1

    Unlock Your Domain

Log in with your current registrar and disable the transfer lock on your domain name. Also make sure the email address associated with your domain is up to date: it will receive the confirmation request.

  2. 2

    Get Your Transfer Code

Request your domain's authorization code (called EPP code or auth code) from your current provider. This code secures the transfer and proves that you are the domain's rightful owner.

  3. 3

    Start the Transfer with EX2

Enter your domain name in the field above: you land on our transfer form, where you add your EPP code before checkout. The transfer usually extends your registration by one extra year.

  4. 4

Confirm and Let Us Handle It

Approve the transfer request you receive by email. The transfer usually completes within 5 to 7 days, with zero downtime: your DNS servers remain unchanged throughout the operation.

FAQ

Domain Transfer FAQ

How long does a domain name transfer take?
A domain name transfer usually takes between 5 and 7 days, the time it takes for your current registrar to approve the domain's release. Some extensions such as .fr can be faster. You are kept informed by email at every step and you can follow the transfer's progress from your EX2 client area.
Will my website or email be interrupted during the transfer?
No. The transfer does not change your DNS servers: your website and email addresses keep working normally for the entire duration of the operation. If you also want to migrate your hosting to EX2, do it before or after the domain transfer for a smooth transition.
What is an EPP code (authorization code)?
The EPP code, also called auth code or transfer code, is a unique password associated with your domain name. It is used to prove that you are the domain's rightful owner during a transfer between registrars. You can get it from your current provider, usually from your management panel or by asking their support.
Will I lose the remaining registration time on my domain?
No. The remaining time on your registration is kept, and the transfer usually adds one extra year to your domain's expiry date. You lose nothing: you simply change registrar while extending your domain.
Why is my domain transfer being rejected?
The most common causes are: a domain registered or transferred less than 60 days ago (an ICANN rule), a transfer lock still enabled, an incorrect EPP code, or outdated contact details. Check these points with your current registrar, then restart the transfer. If in doubt, our support team is available 24/7 to help.
How much does it cost to transfer a domain name to EX2?
The transfer costs the equivalent of a one-year renewal for your extension (the exact price is shown at checkout). And if you subscribe to an EX2 hosting plan for one year or more, your domain transfer is free: your domain gets extended by one year at no extra cost.
